Older threads and posts suggest that the bios on this motherboard is not compatible the the FX, just want to know if things have changed?

That CPU has been supported since BIOS 1401 -- https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LUSB3/HelpDesk_CPU/ That BIOS was released in Sept 2012 -- almost 3 years ago.
