SO i recently built a new computer. everything's fine except that it keeps offing by itself as though i pulled out the plug, it doesnt even show the shutting down screen. then it immediately starts up again and the cycle continues. Could it be because of a bad PSU?

Raidmax Vampire 900 continuous. Raidmax PSUs are junk. There aren't many PSU makers that are below them in quality. I would replace it immediately and then find out how your system performs.

Brands/Series: Antec; Seasonic; XFX; Superflower; Corsair HX/AX; EVGA 2's (G2, B2, etc).

You spent quite a bit on components but purchased a pretty crappy PSU.

Okay, but are there other possibilities for this happening? I do not want to spend money on another component only to find out that it wasnt the cause of the problem at all

Sure. The outlet could be bad. Did you check the system logs to see if there was any other errors prior to the abrupt shutdown?

Even if the PSU isn't the problem right now, it a possibility it could be in the future. You're welcome to read the thoughts of Radimax from the regulars.

Outlet? It's the two, three or four holed thing on the wall that you connect power cables to.

Click the 'Start button' and search 'Event Viewer'. A new window will pop up. On the left side there are folders and one is 'Windows Logs'. Under that there is 'System'. The middle box will now populate with logs. You're looking for an 'Error' preceding or following a system restart. Check around the time you experienced the random shut offs to see if anything matters. You can Google the message code to find out what it means (if it's stated).

I dont think its the outlet, because last time i used my computer and it didnt give me problems at all. I did what you said and it says "a corrected hardware problem has occured" error source: Advanced error reporting(PCI express)
