6 pin on my power supply? I'm not sure but it has a big plug like 23 pin +small 4 pin. It is a ATX 500w 32a

it came in a box with model name etx but its all marked with a permanent marker with X all over it I think it means its not that brand ;P is there no way to find out what brand it is then?

Yes, if you want to use the R9 270 you will need a better PSU. 600 watts is fine. If you put it in your system without the PCIe power cable the computer may not even boot. Let us know what PSU you want to buy so we can make sure you get a good one.

Yes 500-550 will work but it needs to have at least one 6-pin PCIe cable for R9 270 and it needs to be good quality, not generic brand.

It has two 6+2-pin cables and is better quality than yours. If you want to wait, the video card usually comes with cable adapters so you might be able to use your PSU. You could try yours and see if it works. If not you can get the EVGA PSU.
