Hello everyone! Absolute newbie to PC builds here. I've been looking to construct a decent PC for personal use lately.
(If this counts as spam, please let me know and I will remove the post.)
I have picked out my parts (please notify me if anything's missing):
I've read online that the FX X8-8320 does not come with an integrated GPU, so I'm wondering if I would have to purchase the Radeon R7 video card. I know this would take a toll on performance (if there are integrated graphics), but I wouldn't be doing too many graphics-intensive tasks, so do I need to buy it? Like, what would happen if I built this computer without a dedicated graphics card? Would the display cease to turn on? (I apologize if these are stupid questions, it's just that I'm really new to this.)
Thank you for your patience and I would greatly appreciate some feedback from the pros.
Update 1: Thank you for all of the replies! The answers seem to vary a little, so I'm a bit confused here (again, I am on a completely new planet). With the above CPU without a dedicated graphics card, will the picture be provided or not? helpstar said that the Asus M5A78L-M comes with a built-in video card - is this true?
"if no great tasks are being used on this PC, why do you wanna buy a 8 core CPU and 8GB Ram?"
"If you just wanna get a new PC for browsing and watching videos, look at the Intel Pentium G3460 and an Intel B85 board with 4GB RAM."
I'm 13 years old, and just wanted to get into building PCs. Because of my age, my main uses for this computer will be for homework (documents and research), web browsing, media consumption, some gaming, and occasional video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro (but this is mostly just for school projects and short videos I make with my friends). I don't play a lot of demanding titles (mostly just Civilization V and Castle Crashers and such), and my video editing is often done in 720p and sometimes 1080p so I was just wondering if I would really need a dedicated graphics card. But...I am a coding enthusiast. My budget is, at the most, without the OS, $800 CAD. You're right...I would definitely prefer to spend less, but still...I want the PC to last long and also keep up with my future editing and gaming needs. It'd probably still be great to have some extra speed and a few cores lying around...Should I just downgrade my components? Would the Pentium G3460 and 4 gigs of RAM keep up with my needs? Of course, the desktop is upgradeable...
