Hi, I plan on upgrading to skylake but I don't know which of these two motherboards. Both are gigabyte, one is GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 and the other is GA-Z170XP-SLI. Are there any major differences? Can someone explain what's different other than the color? Thanks.
Edit: sorry for not posting links. Link to the xp one ishttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B012AQGL4A/?tag=pcpapi-20 and for the gaming 3 ishttp://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16813128837&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3938566

Im not going to even bother looking for them because you didnt provide links and expect the people you want to help you do that for you .

But all motherboards with the same chipset perform identically . They might have better or worse sound chips , they might have more or less UBB ports etc , and with bigger heatsinks and stronger VRM's a board might overclock better .

Buy the one you like the color of

The differences are

The LAN chips One is intel , one is Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2201 LAN chip

GIGABYTE GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 has two M.2 hard drive connectors

GA-Z170XP-SLI has a couple of old style pci slots while the other has more pci-e connectors

Unless you have some old pci cards you want to add then the Gaming 3 would be the better choice IMO .
