Hey Guys!

I just installed a new Gigabyte 88XM-D3H. Did a fresh install of XP SP2, Installed all drivers with CD. All seems to work fine except no internet. If I try and repair the driver with a USB "Web Based Driver" it pops up in the corner with "Local Area Connection, A network cable is unplugged". I do have the cable in and I know it works fine.

What can I do here I'm really stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

So I already tried everything you guys said. Ping was total loss, The USB I tried was the latest from the web, did restart router, and tried 4 cables. The DNS does match all my other computers so I doubt that's it.

I did notice if I lo on my router it shows connected to that mac address with the correct IP. So Im thinking this is just some stupid setting thats out of wack?

I read the DNS string as one long address not two separate ones, my bad there.

SP3 has a lot of updates for the OS, it's the only version of XP anyone should be running if they are running XP.

lol This is just an update in case some one has the same issue. Every where I read mostly said to change the "Speed/Duplex" to a fixed 10 or 100Mbps Half duplex for Wifi and Full Duplex for hard wired. I found this does help, however If your looking to match speeds of your "Faster WIFI Device" and those speeds are higher than 100Mbps, You need to set Speed/Duplex to "Auto Negotiation". previously was at: Internet Status = 100Mbps, Comcast Speed test 55Mbps Dwn/13Mbps uplo....After switching back to Auto Negotiation: Internet Status = 1Gbps, Comcast Speed Test = 165.9Mbps Dwn/ 42Mbps uplo.

So If your having slowed speeds only select auto. Please don't get confused, this will only make things faster if your hardware(Lan card, Modem, Service) operates at higher speed than 1/10/100Mbps. You can find speed info of your hardware in your manuals/Service providers website.

Those speeds where with that last stated setup. I now sent the gigabyte back for a M5A97R2.0 then sent that back for a Crosshair V Formula Z, dual 240mm CPU cooled. Am now running windows 10 on a SSD. WOW If you want the biggest gain ever in speed on your computer its a SSD!

P.S. Love Windows 10!!!!!!
