I have an old hard drive i used for a computer about 2 years back. This hard drive has windows 7 installed on it. I built a new pc and wanted to use the hard drive, I do have a key for windows 7. I installed a bootable windows 7 home on a flash drive. When I start the computer up it came up with a page that said pick a profile or something of that sort, so I press enter on profile 1. After that it says "booting from dvd/flash drive" then starts that like windows 7 floating color loading thing, gives a quarter of a second blue screen then starts at "booting from dvd/flash drive" again. I have no idea what to do and would greatly appreciate some help. I don't have another computer to put the hard drive in to wipe it or anything either.

Solution
Make certain your pc is set to boot to flash drive, if you are certain that it is, the only othrr thing left is the install was not created properly on the flash drive, redo it.

I believe it is trying to boot from the hard drive like you said, is there any work around for this?

Looks like the USB installer you used made a non-standard installer... the "pick a profile" part should not be there and the boot loop is a sure indication the installer is a non-standard installer and even corrupted. Check the Win 7 installation guide, that's the standard installer no matter if it's from a DVD or USB, every installation should go the same as in the guide. The Windows installer should give you the option to format the hard drive.

Try a different program to make the USB installer; Windows 8 USB Installer Maker is very simple and failproof..
