Hey, I'm looking for a recommendation for a GPU to go with my new build.
Planning on purchasing it middle of September, budget isn't a huge limiting factor on the gpu at this point.

Specs I'm thinking for it so far are:
i7 6700k
maximus VIII hero
G-skill ripjaw V 8g DDR4 2800
Samsung 850 pro 256gb ssd
thermaltake Blackcore v51 case

i haven't decided on the psu, ill just match it to suit the systems needs at the end (or go on a recommendation).

Happy to use sli or crossfire if i need to.

I live in Aus and i usually use msy for parts but I'm not fussy on where i go.
My main use will be gaming, crisis 3, bioshock and battlefield.
The main restriction is that i would like it to be able to play these games (and new ones) on a triple 1080p set up at 60fps on max settings.
Im not dead set on any of these parts so if there is an argument for a better option that would be great too.

Thanks in advance for the help, much appreciated!

Solution
GPU: GTX 980 Ti.
PSU (recommended for future proof): EVGA G2 850 (enough power for two 980 Ti's in SLI)
PSU (minimum recommendation) EVGA G2 650 (enough power for one 980 Ti)
Btw, I'm not personally a fan of triple monitor gaming. Have you viewed any YouTube videos showcasing that setup with the games of your choice? Personally I prefer a 3440 x 1440 ultrawide monitors. But one of those monitors will be a heck of a lot more money than three 1080p monitors. But I thought I would mention.

For 3440 x 1440 @60 FPS & no g-sync
Dell UltraSharp U3415W 34-Inch Curved LED-Lit Monitor
* I ordered this monitor already and will receive it today. Currently I'm gaming on a 1920 x 1200 monitor. USD$700 - $870.

For 3440 x 1440 @ 75+ FPS & g-sync
Instead of triple 1080p, consider one 3440 x 1440 21:9 ratio IPS g-sync monitor (Acer xr341cka).
con: This monitor will be very expensive. I'm guessing USD$1,000 - $1,200.

FYI on the 3440 x 1440 resolution: Crysis 3 and BF4 will work at that resolution, but I seriously doubt that Bioshock Infinite will, as it's several years old now. Maybe the triple 1080p would be a better match. I just don't like the side monitor views on the left and right monitor with triple monitor setups. It's not bad, it's just a matter of preference.

I havent actually done that, thats a good idea. One of my mates had it set up for battlefield and i liked the look of it so i figured id aim for that set up. I was a bit worried that i wouldn't be able to get used to the frames interrupting the view.

How does the gtx 980 ti go with the 1920 x 1200 monitor? Would it handle games like skyrim with mods easily?
Thanks for the help!

I don't personally play skyrim, but I would assume that it would. Honestly, I could have handled my resolution on a single monitor with a GTX 970, but I had extra money, so I upgraded to the 980 Ti. But three 1080p monitors is 3/4th of the pixel count of 4K, which means that it's demanding. A 980 Ti will probably fulfill your needs, but you may end up adding a second 980 Ti in the future. I'm not entirely sure, since you're only gaming at 60 FPS. My guess is that a single 980 Ti would be a great fit for your proposed setup.

I don't know what your budget is, but if at any time you need an inexpensive single monitor 1440p @ 60 Hz monitor, this might be a good option:

Acer G257HU smidpx 25" 4ms HDMI Ultra Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS

It's not wide screen; just a simple 2560 x 1 440 monitor. But it is indeed IPS, but not g-sync. If I didn't catch my Dell 3440 x 1440 monitor for $700 then I might have just purchased two of these 1440p monitors instead.

Addendum: One of the customer reviews for the G247HU suggests that the monitor doesn't have a VESA mount. Just thought that I would mention. I use a monitor stand, but perhaps it would be an issue for you.

yeah i think i should have the cash to fit in the 980 ti in so i may as well! Do you water-cool yours or just air?
That monitor looks pretty sweet! it seems to have a pretty small frame too so it wouldn't be as thick when they line up together. I've got a pretty big desk so the frames should be fine

Thanks heaps for the help, made my life much easier haha :)

Yeah i like the look of the hybrid, much easier having the wc packaged with it. i reckon ill shop around for one of them!
Ill stick with air cooling the rest of the system though. Any recommendations on decent/quiet fans for me to use?

Oh nice! how does it go?

Yeah, Reaper is the only user on this site, that I know who has the 980 Ti hybrid. But I was never able to get a hold of it. Right now NewEgg lets you backorder them. That's huge. They'll ship and charge you for it at the same time.

For a custom cooler 980 Ti, my two favorites are:

MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti GTX 980TI GAMING 6G 6GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support ATX Video Card

* Notice that the EVGA card comes with a backplate. The MSI does not. Both are great cards and you can't go wrong with either. Personally I like the MSI simply because I had a great experience with their GTX 970. My guess is that more than 50% of readers would opt for the EVGA. It's just personal opinion at this level.
