Hi chap

As title, I need to upgrade my fx4500 with a more powerful card

Did someone test a gtx 750 or similar?

I`m concern about the compatibility between PCle1.0 of my machine and PCle3.0 of the card

Thanks

You need 250W from your psu.
There should be a data plate affixed to the psu.

ASUS or any other manufacturer would be fine. Exclude any overclocked GTX750ti that needs an extra 6 pin power lead which your psu likely does not have.

Any idea before ordering the card?

I was thinking about this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nvidia-GeForce-Graphics-GDDR5-PCI-Express/dp/B00ICUGOP0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1440447374&sr=8-2&keywords=gtx+750+ti

Many thanks

It looks as though you have a workstation pc with a proprietary 750w psu.
The power is sufficient, But I see no pcie 6 pin connectors, or for that matter, any molex connectors that you could use an adapter with.

Why can't you simply use the quadro card that it comes with?
If you want a GTX750ti, I suggest you use one that does not need aux power like I think your link does.
Here is a similar card that should work:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-GeForce-Superclocked-Graphics-DisplayPort/dp/B00IGQ4Z3S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1440447886&sr=8-1&keywords=gtx+750+ti

You can tell by observation; I can't.
But, it is a moot point; a normal GTX750ti will run without such extra power.
The fancy cooler is more for marketing, and
The card I linked is actually a better performer with higher base and boost clocks.

Yes so I opened the case and there is a 6 pincable powering my fx 4500.
About the gtx 750, you mean that your card ( Evga) will run better and smoothly than the Asus?
The double cooler I thought was something better ,this is way I decided to go for a big card but if the evga will run better for me it`s fine and also they have the same price

What about the compatibility? I read that evga sometime give more issue on compatibility
Is that true?

Looking forward to get your reply soon

many thanks for your help

The particular EVGA card has a base clock rate of 1176 and a boost clock of 1255.
The ASUS card has a base clock of 1072 and a boost of 1150.
Really though, you can't tell the difference in actual gameplay.

Fancy fan type coolers sell, but with a low power card like a GTX750ti, it is mostly marketing.
Such fan type coolers dump the heat into your case where case cooling needs to get rid of it.
The EVGA card directs much of the heat out the rear of the case directly.

As to compatibility, I can't say. The guts of all GTX750ti cards come from the same source, namely NVIDIA.
Perhaps a google search for issues involving your pc or motherboard may turn up something. Normally, such cards are installed on more conventional motherboards.

If you have any doubts, buy from a source that will accept returns reasonably.

Thanks for that!

I was planning to buy it from amazon and in case of not compatibility, they should allow me to return it
Any experience with that?

Another question.

Is the gtx750 more powerful card with a £100 budget or could I try something much better adding few quids?

Many Thanks

I would have a go with the evga and hopefully will works, unless would be a wasting time and money.

Unfortunately on google there are people telling that had enough luck to upgrade the card and other saying that need to give up.

Do I need to uninstall drivers or do something on the bios before installing the new card?

Nothing in the bios.

Any graphics card will have a basic low resolution mode that works without any driver(480 x 200 or such)
You install a driver either downloaded from the internet or from the cd incluced with the card.
That will give you full resolution.

One could uninstall any software from the old card if you wish.

FTW is a more highly overclocked version and will need that 6 pin power lead.
For rendering, I think it is the number of CUDA cores that is relevant, and that count is exactly the same in either.
Not a lot of difference, regardless.

So You suggest that the CS would still be a good option and more compatible with my old system?

I have the 6pin but I`m not going to play games with that card

I only want something reliable and stable

So Shell I stick with the CS model?

The price is slightly the same

SC £100
FTW £105

it`s not a price issue but only compatibility and cooling to try to get the best possible because I assume that the machine will work at full speed for long hours

So maybe having o fan would be good than two or opposite way

Sorry to bother you and many thanks for the huge help

GPU arrived this morning, very fast delivery

I removed my old fx4500 and installed the gtx 750

The machine started, the gpu fan is running but no display

The system seems loading regularly but no display and I heard 2 short bip after a minute of the start

Any idea?

Have you plugged the monitor directly into the new card? not the motherboard? (surprisingly common mistake)

What do you mean?

What I did:

Unwrapped the card
Took out the old one
Placed the new card, no pin required for that card
Plugged the cable on card

No display and I Started to swear 

BTW

I tried first with DVI cable and late with the digital cable called display port

Any idea?
