Hi,
As was recommended I created a recovery drive on a seagate external hard drive. This seemed to create a partition, as every time the HD was plugged in F: (the storage drive) and K: the recovery partition would appear.
However the hard drive was dropped while it was running. Now when plugged in two BD-ROM drives appear. It is recognized correctly as Seagate Expansion Desk USB Devise under the device manager. Is there a way of getting access to HD again? Preferably without formatting?
Cheers.

Solution
Dropped whilst it was running will almost certainly have caused damage to the drive platter and read/write heads.
Best option is to send it to a professional data recovery service if you have deep pockets.
