Hey there, TrentIsDope.

You won't be able to format the drive your OS is installed on, while you've booted to Windows. One piece of advice just to be on the safe side - you should always go for secure erase with a tool or quick format when it comes to an SSD, never use full format. I'd recommend that you try to boot your computer with the HDDs disconnected, to see if the same thing happens. I know the OS is not on either of them, but if there's a problem with either one, this could cause similar issues.
How were you able to backup the data and run the scans if the computer always freezes, did you connect the SSD to a different computer? It really sounds like there might be an issue with the SSD, or the SATA port, or cables. Try connecting it to a different computer and run an SSD diagnostic tool to test it for errors. If you've already backed up your data, you could try reinstalling Windows with all other drives disconnected during the installation process. You can format the SSD via the Windows installation media (DVD/USB).

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

Thank you for the reply. To start off, I didn't try to format windows when I was in windows. I installed a boot installer of windows 8 on my flash drive and tried to format it from there, but like I said I got an error message saying that my ssd couldn't be formatted.

I run the scans from the cmd in windows system repair. That is about the only thing I can get too that works. And, I backed up my data by putting "notepad" in cmd and using the windows explorer from it to copy my data to another drive. Too be honest, I wasn't sure if it even worked or worked correctly, so I've downloaded acronis to back up my data and that has worked.

So now, I'm just trying to wipe my drive clean using acronis, but that won't even work for some weird reason. This is about where I am.

Update: Okay so, I download parted magic to format my ssd. But not to my surprise, all my data is still there. I honestly don't know what to do except buy a whole new ssd. I figured out that traditional formatting softwares wouldn't work and that I need a special software to be able to format my ssd. I figured parted magic would work since it seems to have worked for most others, but my data just won't go away. When I run the erase disk program on parted magic, I get a completion message, but all my data is still there. I'm so confused on what to do. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

It sounds like the SSD might have become faulty somehow. If nothing works for you and if the SSD is still under warranty, I'd recommend that you contact the manufacturer's customer support and ask about RMA. Although you still have the option of trying it with a different computer to see if you'll be able to properly format it or secure erase it. As you've mentioned parted magic usually works for most users, but I'd still recommend that you give it a go with the SSD manufacturer's tool (most of the different brands have such tools for their devices).
