So i recently purchased a y510p with a single Nvidia geforce gt 750m 2GB ram. I originally wanted to get the model with dual 750's but i got a really good deal on the single gpu model.

Im wondering if the single gt 750 is capable of smoothly running battlefield 4. I know the dual 750s can run it on ultra, no lag. Does anybody have any knowledge on the matter?

I'm considering buying the other 750m as my model has the ultrabay port and i want to be able to run more graphic intense games. Im running HoTS on all ultra no problem and WoW can run on high no lag, but it raises gpu temp to 80+ which worries me. Just how far can the single 750 go?

Solution
The Nvidia GT 750M should run Battlefield 4 at 1920x1080 on 'ultra' at 12 FPS; so, provided that you set it up at a lesser resolution and/or turn down the details, you should be able to run it smoothly at 60 FPS.

You will definitely need that 2nd GPU if you want higher settings on games and a smooth experience.

That will of course further contribute to heat.

One of the major negatives I have heard about those laptops is that they get extremely hot, to the point of discomfort for the user.

As rowdymoody said, adding another graphics card to the mix will definitely worsen the heating issue. I'd advise against adding another GPU unless you like to have your balls burned (that is to say, if you're a guy). Sure, you'll get to see more visually appeasing head-shots, but the cost of discomfort is OUCH!

Years ago I had an Asus ROG g51vx. The cooling was terrible in that thing. After spending a couple hours gaming, the wrist rest area and underside of the laptopwould get so hot that it would literally burn my skin. The insides of my wrists and tops of my thighs would turn pink if I gamed for more than a couple hours a day. Of course I started using a laptop table to keep my legs from burning, but nothing I could do about the wrists.

It was definitely not a desirable experience.

yeah heat is a serious concern. The single card gets up to 80C running simple games so i cant imagine two cards running. Ill try running BF4 at lower res and lower settings. Ive heard this twice now so i think it will probably work fine. Thanks for the opinions guys!
