My computer won't Post (Do get 1 long and 3 short beeps) - a cheap graphics card from Microcenter didn't fix the problem so I have decided it's time to upgrade and since I now don't have a desktop, upgrade immediately.

I have a rough build but its more than what I want to spend. My friend who helped last time is out of the country. I'm trying to stay $400 or under.

Probably No Overclock

Computer is for gaming: Current games playing/ plan on playing - Star Citizen, Warframe, Planetside 2, Other MMO's and Total War Game Series - Looking for something for now and will last into future - PS2 is painful and Total War takes forever to load

My Current System:
Case: XBlade
Mobo: Asus P5N-D
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 560 TI
Memory: 4 x 2 GB DDR 2 Ram
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad q6600

Carrying Over:
Case: XBlade
Power Supply: Corsair TX 850 - If you want to know why it's so big, last one blew when I upgraded. Got a great deal on it
500 GB Hard Drive with Windows 7
Dying Hard Drive with Windows XP (Need to off load everything on it)

Excluded from my budget but am taking suggestions on:
Harddrive ~$45.00 - Sandisk Solid State Drive 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Optics: ~ $20.00 Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer - My current one hasn't worked for months

I've allocated $400 max for the following items - Need suggestion or recommendations:
Mobo: ~ $80MSI Z97 PC Mate LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Processor: ~ $160.00 Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor
Graphics Card: ~ $180 Radeon R9 280 3GB
Memory: ~ $40.00 Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

I'm currently a little over budget. Will this setup work for the next several years? Any other recommendations/combination for graphics and processor and motherboard? I'm asuming I won't do much better on memory.

All help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Get an Intel i5 if you want to play modern games well. There is a very large difference between an Intel i3 and an Intel i5. Do not get the Z97 motherboard. Get a cheaper H97. If, however, there aren't any cheaper motherboards then stick with the Z97. Keep in mind you won't be able to use all Z97 features. Get a Samsung or Intel SSD instead.

I've edited my budget.

What's the difference between the Z97 and H97 motherboard? Also, why samsun or intel SSD? Quality?

Is the Processor and graphics card I chose good? Or is there a better combo/ price option.
