I hope you know I didn't mean that literally and what I mean by the golden GPU is that I want a card that doesn't cost a lot like 200-350 maybe 400 if the card is worth it and that it will last me a few years 5-infinity and I want it to be future proof so that it doesn't become the GeForce 210 of like 6 years from now can you recommend any card that will fit this criteria and I am hoping to get it on Black Friday so it can be like 450 and will drop

Pascal and whatever AMD ends up calling theirs will be good chips for sure and I know they may be able to produce 2x processing power with die shrink but I highly doubt they will pass that on in the form of cheap GPU's, meaning I doubt the $300-$400 cards are going to actually be twice as powerful and blow the titanx and 980 TI away for that price. I just don't see it happening.

EDIT: But if they do, hell count me in, I'll pick up two of em.

Currently I have no GPU so anything would be a boost but I don't want to wait for so long like I said around Black Friday or Boxing Day because this is tech and if I wait till next year than people will say wait another year because better cards are coming out see my point

I'd echo the GTX 970 suggestion then - great cards, fairly modern architecture and proven to deliver excellent results up to 1080p level at high detail levels. You should be fairly happy with that until at least a years time or so. Then if you spend the same amount again you'll be looking at a card that'll absolutely demolish 1080p and make good dents in 4K too. You should be sorted.

I know but with games taking up more and more vram the 3.5gb won't be enough so i was thinking about the 390 because that card looks beast with 8gb vram but my power supply is 600w and isn't exact;y great i could get the 390 but i would have to buy a power supply that will deliver 650w if you can find me one that's cheap and will deliver than that would be great

1080P and the 8GB does not benefit if you go higher resolution it will The 390X barely beats the GTX970 at 1080P http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/R9_390X_Gaming/30.html
And the 390 looses to it http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Powercolor/R9_390_PCS_Plus/30.html
The increasing demand for Vram is people are moving to higher res like 1440P and 4K and that is where the AMD cards gain with the 8GB ram.

980s should be coming down in price if you can wait, they've always been priced a little too high and 390x actually did a great job of closing a lot of the performance gap 980 had over 290x.

It may be a few months but 980 deals will be out there for those who are watching. You wont have to worry about the 3.5GB issue and the 384 more maxwell cores won't hurt either.

But directx12 is going to increase performance significantly on amd cards vs nvidia also 8gb vram you are saying it doesn't show but what about shadow of mordor I have no interest in the game but if this is going to become the standard than why go for 3.5 gb vram? I know I'm asking for your help and then arguing but I just want to make our I make the right decision

Why would DX12 help the AMD cards more than the nvidia cards that support it as well?
In any case those AMD cards compete with the GTX970 but the AMD fury competes with the GTX980 and Ti although it has 4gb Vram. Basically you need raw HP before you benefit from the increase in Vram.
If you are dead set on the AMD card there is nothing wrong with it I am just pointing out the benefit of increased Vram does not help until higher res than 1080P. I personally selected the GTX970 for that resolution because of its power efficiency over then R9 290X which was slightly cheaper at the time.

Just pick which brand you want and get the highest number you can afford man. It really is that simple. VRAM is not an issue at 1080P.

If you are doing 3D or multi monitor try to get at least 4GB VRAM. A

Avoid Crossfire/SLI and get the best single GPU you can afford.

As others have said the 970 is a great card and under 350. It also comes with 4gb of ram in case you do decide to run multi monitor later.

1 title, that is not enough to jump to conclusions. There have always been titles that favor one or the other brand.

Dude, it's one benchmark from a game that's in pre alpha stage, nowhere near even being released and it is made in conjunction with AMD...Oxide and AMD. Come on, you know how the furyx performed after they only released benchmarks for far cry 4 before it launched, hoping people wouldn't take notice and base the performance off of one game like you are doing. Once we got real benchmarks from the rest of games...well you know how that ended up don't you.

or maybe check tom's PSU tier list for something better: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

i would go for the 390\390X if you can find a real good deal somewhere. the original 980 is also nice, i just don't like the 4GB vram limit.

I say GTX 970. I'm concerned about the 3.5GB VRAM problem as well but it doesn't matter. Because my plan is to keep my 970 and the rest of my build and then upgrade to a 4K build. Gonna try a micro atx build though.

So, basically, you're saying that you want the best card on the market and you want it to update itself from now on for very little money.

I think you're asking a question that really isn't ever going to have an answer...
