Hi Alex and welcome to the community. :)

First I'd recommend that you take a look at this troubleshooting guide: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/Xbox-360/system/hard-drive. If that doesn't help, I'd suggest that you connect the drive to a computer, either externally (via a SATA to USB adapter, a docking station, or an external enclosure), or internally via a SATA connection, to see if it's properly recognized. Then go ahead and download DLG (Data Lifeguard Diagnostics) and run both tests (Quick and Extended), to see if there are any errors or bad sectors.
