Am panning to buy seagate centtral 2tb

1-My college has a type of authentication if you try to use network and i will be using a splitter to access the hard disk. So if i use authentication on laptop and sign to wifi using my username password will i have any problem accessing the disk?
2-Will others able to see my hard disk and data in it?
Advance thanks for the help....

OK if i set the whole disk as private no one can access it ri8?
can u direct me the process to do it?
and what about authetication thing?
its like cyberoam authentication once you give username password u can use the net else not?

All I know is what I read from the user manual
http://www.seagate.com/files/www-content/support-content/external-products/seagate-central/en-us/seagate-central-user-guide-us.pdf

To sum it up, as far as I see, it has public folder (size could be set, I think) that anyone on network can see and use.
It can also have private folders that need email/password to use (set up on the seagate central setup web page with browser)

In short, no.. for storing private "no one else should see this" things, it is far from ideal.
It is also not ideal if anyone besides you uses the wifi/router and thus has access to the network. (like in your case)
