Hi guys, I am looking at building my very first desktop. Gaming oriented; I wanted to go FHD 144hz. I selected most of the components according to all kinds of guides and what not, and - as expected - I ended up somewhere above my planned budget.
I wanted to ask you:
a) does this configuration make sense
b) what can I downgrade to save some money without hitting the performance too much
CPU: Intel i7-6700K
CPU cooling: Corsair H100i // I always had PCs and laptops (duh) with air cooling, wanted to try sth new
Motherboard: ASUS Z170 Deluxe // I like the connectivity and the WiFi
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Gaming G1 // 980 is too expensive + it's an overkill for 1080p gaming, right?
PSU: Corsair AX-750 // I am taking into consideration upgrading to SLI in the future with this PSU, to keep the configuration capable for a couple of years
SSD: SM951 PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 128GB // system disk. Wanted to take advantage of mobo’s M2 port
HDD: Seagate ST2000DX001 // it’s a 2TB hybrid drive with 8GB SSD catche. I am not sure if it’s worth the money, it would be the first thing I’d downgrade.
RAM: 8GB+8GB dual channel DD4 // memory is a market where I get lost, I have no idea what’s the practical difference between ADATA XPG and G.Skill Trident. Help.
Case: Fractal Design DEFINE R4 // midi tower, because my wife will kill me for sth bigger
Monitor: 144hz AOC G2460PQU or AOC G2460PG (with G-sync) / depends how much money I will have left by the end of the day
ATM this sits above 2000 Euro, at least where I live, and this is without counting RAM. I do have peripherials. I know a guy who knows a guy who can get me those components a bit cheaper then market price (no, it's not stolen, he just owns a store of his own ), but this price makes me stop and think for a while, around here 2k euro is way above average montly pay.
In advance:
Thanks a lot for your input.
Sigma.
