Hi everyone,

I'm updating my pc and currently I have a Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G memory. I want more RAM, so is it possible to add a Kingston KVR1333D3N9/8G to work together? It's the same model, but one have 4Gb and the another have 8Gb. Will this give me 12 Gb of RAM, or is it risky?
Thanks in advance, it's a excelent forum! And sorry if I made any english mistake

We would need to know which motherbd you have to know if it even supports 8gb dimm's to begin with.

Aslo you would need a 64bit OS to support more then 4gb of ram as a 32bit OS is maxed out at 4gb's. Btw - there is no 'upgrade' path from 32b to 64b. It requires a full reinstallation of everything.

I'm sorry popatim, I didn't explained everything. I'm upgrading some parts of my PC, and the mobo is not a issue (it will be a G1.Sniper Z97). I would like to keep using the memory stick that I already have (KVR1333D3N9/4G) and perhaps add another stick, maybe the same or the KVR1333D3N9/8G. If both 4Gb and 8Gb sticks can work together, I would prefer have 12 Gb. My question is: is there some major difference between the two models besides the 4/8 Gb memory?

And I have a Windows 7 Pro 64b

Thank you both for the reply

Thank you Tradesman1, this article is very helpful. I guess I'll try to figure another solution, I want to have a PC that lasts 3 or 4 years, so I guess it's better now make the things right!
