will putting resolution to 200% (3820 x 2160) on a 1080p monitor do damage to my GPU or monitor?

I have a GTX EVGA 980 Ti 6GB ACX 2.0 SC BP and a ASUS VG248QE (1MS,144HZ,1080P), I'm doing this on Shadow of Mordor btw.

If you are using DSR from the nvidia control panel to scale to 2160p you are not harming it in any way (both gpu and monitor).

The only bad thing about it is the huge impact on frame rate and possibly power for a rather mild image quality gain.
