I burned wins 7 iso image to DVD. It tries to install wins 7 but there is no hard drive. How to boot from DVD? It keeps asking me to load mass storage driver for installation. Thanks, LP

Solution

They are saying you can BOOT THE WINDOWS INSTALLER, not Windows itself.

Sounds a little odd that you are attempting to run a laptop without HD, but OK well as long as you are clear.
If you try to install Windows on strange hardware (eg server with RAID controllers), Windows could not have the necessary drivers and they have to be provided during installation (or injected into the boot image).

You cannot boot full Windows off DVD, only install program.
Get a HDD/SSD, put into your computer, and install your Windows.

Or - burn some Linux LiveCD, there are many distros made to boot and work off CD/DVD.

Thanks Alabalcho. I'm confused (that's my perpetual state) I keep seeing references to being able to boot from Thumb drive/DVD. I may be under the wrong impression. I may try your suggestion burning the Linux or some other. Thanks again,LP
