I have a Realtek RTL8168 PCIe gigabit ethernet NIC on board my Lanovo laptop (ThinkPad Edge E350). Windows 8 SP1 is running with latest driver from either Realtek or Lenovo. The Network and Sharing Center of Windows always showed the NIC at 100 Mbp. I have tried different CAT 5E or better cables and different 1Gb switches. I also tried to turn off the "Auto negotiation" property of "Speed and Duplex" in the Advanced tab of the device properties dialog. Nothing seemed to work. Is this a known problem in the RTL8168?
