gpu upgrade alienware x51

i have had the alienware x51 for some time now and i want to upgrade my gpu from the gtx 645 i have a 240 watt psu so i was wondering what is the best graphics card you can get that will work in my computer?

Gt 740 would be too tight for comfort, the Gt 730 should be good. but that is really not much of a boost. how many amps do you have on your 12 volt rail?

im not sure but i was thing of getting a 750 ti but im not sure on how much of an upgrade that would be and if it would work

that would probably use too much power, a 750 can run on 300 watts, but not 240.

according to the geforce website the min graphics card power is 130w for the gtx 645 but its lower for the 750ti but i am not sure if i am looking at anything relevant or not.

well the 750ti does use around 75 watts, so if that is so, then it will work, this be one of those specialize alienware power supplies that are really good at powering GPUs.

no, you need a version of the 750 ti that runs purely on the power of the pcie slot itself

yea i think i am gunna have to upgrade my psu to the 330w

^ a good idea. and also that little EVGA card is quite powerful for its size, it runs cool and still is fast, so if you cannot get the bigger one, there is always that to get.

if that can power a gt 645, then it should power the 750ti, so yes, even if you do not get the 330 watt PSU, just get the little card.
