Hey all, Im looking to upgrade my 8 year old PC monitor. I have found a few I will list that look ok, but I was looking for opinion. I know about computers, but I don't know much about monitors. I'm aiming to purchase:

matte finish screen
widescreen
1-2ms refresh
1080p
24" range (my current is 19" .. so I would like bigger but prolly 24-25" max)
vga dvi hdmi ports (or at least vga and dvi)
VESA compatible mount so I can put it on a different screen mount/arm
$200-$230 max

I have seen many screens that fit this category... an overwhelming amount, thats why Im here. Two that caught my eye I added the url's below. Lemme know what you think of the two Im looking at, or if you have experience with one that is within the specs I'm looking for above. Thanks guys!!!

I would recomend the Asus monitor you linked but it does not have a matte finish as you stated, so I would recommend the XL2411Z. It has a 1080p TN panel with 144hz refresh rate and a 1ms repsonse time. Also a matte finish. It is a great monitor according to reviews. But it is a little bit over youare budget ($100 approx.)

What are you using it for? Movies, games, video editing, graphic design, standard business stuff, etc? Depending on the need you have will determine which "stats" are worth paying for.

For example, the 1-2ms refresh is completely unnecessary for spreadsheet/word document stuff. It makes a little bit of a difference in movies and creative work, but makes a big difference with games.

Great question, I should have put that in: My overall reason for a new monitor is primarily for gaming. The size difference is mainly for movies as I sit a few feet back for them. My current main monitor is a dell e198wfpv 19" 60hz widescreen and though Im used to it, I know its quite dated and want to see how I can improve my gaming experience (or movies, I might eventually get a blueray drive or see if the hdmi business really makes a difference).
