R9 280X (Gigabyte) question

Hello! In the past, before I got a GTX 970, my R9 280X in my current build started to overheat around 4 months into having built my PC. I was looking to sell the R9 280X but I just wanted to ask, will the new buyer have issues if they don't have enough fans/ventilation? I'm not sure if that's the problem or not but I just want to know before I sell it. Note that the card does work but it did overheat the last time I used it (December 2014).

Well, I was playing a game of Counter-Strike and all of a sudden my computer kept shutting off. So I guessed it was the graphics card and got a new one for Christmas. I got the 970, and it hasn't happened since (8 months).
