There are cloning applications that work reasonably. However, glitches sometimes happen. We've had entirely too many forum members experiencing problems when trying to clone from a hard disk drive to an ssd. There is another problem. Over a period time Microsoft Windows turns into what we used to call a "bloated pig". Old useless files and registry entries tend to accumulate. Windows does not do a very good job of eliminating those files.
A fresh clean install of the operating system, drivers, applications, and utilities is the preferred method of installation. Just remember to unplug your old drive when installing Windows to the ssd.
