Hi guys,

After installing Windows 10 I had to factory reset my computer because of wifi adapter incompatibility. Afterwards I had to factory reset again because Windows update failed mid configuration, causing a loop.

Now trying to update windows again, but whenever I check for updates windows explorer slows to a crawl and is frequently not responsive. I'm thinking it may be a hard drive issue since my laptop is 4 years old.

Any idea what may be causing the problem?

Edit: I am now stuck on the "starting windows" screen.

It could be that the hdd as the os is loading from it. You can check the read and write speeds to make sure that this isn't the reason or scan the hdd for bad sectors.

The other thing it could be is that there are a lot of background processes when windows update runs.

Have you got all the drivers for your pc up to date.

No because of the factory reset. I am updating Windows first then I'll update my other drives. I left my laptop on overnight and everything is fine now. But I bet as soon as I start checking for updates again Windows Explorer will slow down again. I did some SeaTools checks and everything seems to be fine.

What could be the problem? :??:
