Hi,

Thank you for taking time to view my post. I am having a hard time to figure out what will go to my isk vesa case.

I used to have a a10 7800 fitted on that case, and due to some circumstances, it's gone now. Now I have another itx desktop, and I am planning to move some of it's components to the case, mainly because I need a portable cpu that can fit in my briefcase. Nuff said, I am in need of a solution since my budget is tight, and I can only spare roughly $50 if needed. I am just baffled whether the pico psu will be able to support the components listed below:

mobo: maximus VII impact
processor: intel i7 4790k
memory: 2 8gb ddr3 at 1333 mhz (forgot the brand)
hdd: samsung 850 pro
cooler: stock cooler or I can use my spare $50 to buy a new one that will be appropriate.

This will be the basic, and if I can still fit in I would like to add a secondary hdd (1 pc) and a 140mm fan.

For all the pros, please help me, I will be grateful for all your help.

Thank you very much.

It's not likely, even at stock clocks the 4790k will utilize up to 88 watts. The PSU can handle 90 but that's only part of the story, CPU's require most power from the 12v rail, and I could not say for certain it could handle it. In addition the remainder of the system (Ram, HDD, Motherboard, etc.) Usually consume at least 30 watts additionally.

Based on this information you are trying to find out if you will be able to fit a particular motherboard, CPU, RAM, and cooler into a specific case. The short answer is yes, but it begs the question of what the wattage your power supply is rated for. A 250W power supply will be sufficient, if you have not purchased these parts going with an H series board and dropping the K edition CPU will save you some cash as in this instance overclocking would not only be ill advised but downright hazardous to the components.

Hi Xibyth,

Thank you for the response. I apologize I forgot to mention clearly that I was figuring out whether the pico psu that comes with my isk 110 can handle the load (it's only 90w). I definitely agree with your suggestion. I used to fit a a10 7800 itx rig in the case, but my components got stolen, hence, I was left with my other cpu, which is a bit bulky to be brought to work (my 4790k sits on a obsidian 250d). Now, I have no work station to bring to our office, and I don't want to use the work stations they provide me there, and my only option at the moment is to move my rog motherboard with my 4790k to my isk vesa 110, which I have doubts on whether it's pico psu can handle the load or not.
