Hi there,

I'm running out of ideas on what went wrong, here.

Here is the story:
my build was working flawlessly yesterday evening (had a 4 hours gaming session)
I then noticed rebooting wouldn't give me the option of stopping at Bios (no ROG screen), quite possibly because, as my TV had decided to die, I changed it last week (to a Samsung 4k TV)
I tried a number of things (local kb vs. wireless kb), etc ..., to no avail. I was still booting, though, but no BIOS option.
I then decided to try ASUS boot utility to boot into BIOS, to no avail
I then cleared the CMOS

Now, I can't boot at all (code A2).

What I've done so far:
clear again CMOS: code A2 and no picture
remove the GPU and plug the TV's HDMI onto the on-MB chip: code A2 and no picture
remove all data links to disks (one SSD + one HDD): code 99 and no picture
plug only the SSD (my boot device): : code A2 and no picture

If anyone has any idea on what to try next, that would be great ...

So from your manual A2 is IDE detect. I would check your sata cables or even swap them out. Start looking on page 1-30 in your manual to figure out what codes mean what.

You might also what to get on Asus's webpage and download the latest bios and flash the MB with that. Once again read your manual to figure out how to flash the bios. The computer doesnt have to boot to flash it.

Hi there,

I've already fiddled with SATA cables to no avail.

However, yes, I plan to update the BIOS, but that will need an USB stick as I lost all of them :)

I'll be keeping the thread posted.

OK, so finally, I apparently managed to get the BIOS updated (first attempt apparently didn't do) + clear CMOS.

I'm back booting, yes !

I think the problem is forcing in BIOS is not a good idea as I definitely have no signal to the TV when in BIOS.

EDIT: I've just found this thread (see post 1149). This is clearly a TV firmware issue, which I'll have to wait for Samsung to sort out. Indeed, other MB owners are not able to access BIOS on the TV either ...
