I have an Aspire XC-603G-UW15 desktop PC in my office downstairs that I use for work things only. Upstairs I have an old eMachines EL1352G-41W which I've been upgrading for gaming. I want to upgrade the RAM for my eMachines but it's already maxed out at 4GB DDR3. My office PC can be upgraded to 8GB DDR3. I'm thinking about swapping the motherboards as both PC's have the same form factor and size. What kind of things can I expect to happen? Are either board compatible with the other? Keep in mind power supply is not a factor for the eMachines upstairs as I've already upgraded it's PSU. Would swapping the boards be a good idea or would i just destroy both PC's in the process?

Solution
If your just swapping board without an OS reinstall you looking at few things. One it will boot up but take a while since it has to find new drivers for everything. Two it will load up to the swirl windows logo and freeze and crash since it doesnt have the right drivers. Or three not boot up at all.

Even if #1 does work you will most likely be plagued with crashes and bluescreens all the time with old driver conflicts and what knot.
