I am trying to determine if my Gateway dx4300 will carry audio over hdmi. I have two questions
1. Does the motherboard have an spdif connector I can connect to my geforce 9600 gt video card for that purpose?
2. Does the motherboard have integrated graphics that will carry audio over the hdmi output?

Thanks

Check your MB manual, you should fine the audio header on the MB, and check the link for how to connect the spdif internal cable between the GPU and MB. https://www.evga.com/files/Image/58804/spdifinfo.jpg

If it is your PC http://www.notebookreview.com/desktopreview/gateway-dx4300-review/ the back i/o panel has one hdmi port, the hdmi can carry both video and audio. Because I can't find the info for the MB, I don't know the MB has onboard iGPU or not, at least the cpu, AMD Phenom II x4 810, does not have one. You can check the manual to find it out.

I found the SPDIF connector on the MB, so connecting that to video card is an option. I enabled onboard graphics in BIOS and enabled ATI HDMI output in Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound. I have video from the onboard graphics but no sound. Any ideas? And thanks for the info

I updated the driver and believe I have the correct device enabled in Control Panel, but still no audio. I have an SPDIF cable ordered and hopefully that will do it. Thanks for the help
