Hey, guys!
I just purchased a Dell XPS 8700 w/ an i7 4790 and 8 GB of RAM that will be arriving Friday =)
I primarily purchased this computer for running Adobe Premiere and After Effects (often at the same time).
I thought upgrading the RAM on this thing was going to be easy but it turns out Dells are a bit finicky with RAM. Anyhow, I've found some RAM (Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x8GB Kit) that supposedly will run at 1600mhz CAS9 (the XPS 8700 is notorious for wanting CAS11 to run at 1600mhz).
My long-winded question (apologies for that!) is:
For video editing in Adobe Premiere and After Effects, would I be best served with 16GB CAS9 or 24GB CAS11 (both 1600mhz)?
(In other words, should I pretty much toss the 8GB of CAS11 that comes with the machine in the trash in favor of running at CAS9 or should I add the additional 16GB CAS9 to the 8GB of CAS11 for a total of 24GB likely running at the slower CAS11)
Thank you for your time =)
