The PC itself was built by myself around two months ago and has never missed a beat.
I was using handbreak to convert some files...about 50GB last night and my CPU temperature hit 100° for about three seconds, Coretemp gave me a warning pop up, the computer blue screened...I'm guessing as a safety feature, then the PC restarted and it was fine again. I left the encoding to one side for the night and continue just to use games and documents and everything was okay.
I came to use it this morning but encountered the error in the video I have linked that showed the problem.
I apologise in advance for the five minute video.
I don't know if I've done permanent damage to my CPU with hitting 100° but as far as I'm aware the PC should be more than capable of doing the process im asking it to do without hitting the temperatures it did. Even if it did hit 100° I don't think that it would cause reversible damage if it was only at that temperature for a few seconds before it turned its self off.
I don't know if my PC should be reaching these temperatures anyway with the EVO 212 as I think it should be more than capable.

Basically when I start of the PC it gets stuck in a big loop showing the Asus ROG icon on the screen, it will do this 2 to 3 times before it shows a windows recovery screen. I can choose to 'restart' the PC at which point it takes me to back to the screen again...eventually, or if I click 'scan for issues' it says that no issues can be found but my keyboard and mouse on responsive and I cannot click continue/restart/exit.

Any advice would be much appreciated. I will answer my questions as best as I can!

Got here through Tom's Hardware. Nice rig but wondering why it ever got to 100c. With that cooler and proper thermal paste, you should be good to go. Does it always stay at the Asus splash screen for so long or is that new? I would clear the cmos to start with. Is your keyboard wireless? If so, try a usb to see if you can see problem details on the screen you can't move. You will probably need a repair disk to get it working again. When you get it working again, deselect option to re-boot pc on crash so you can see what the blue screen it telling you. Google is you friend there. You probably have some file corruption of some sort. Good luck! I posted this first on your you tube link.

your master boot record is corrupted..... like a winload.efi type error. I had to reinstall windows on my system to get it back up again... when your system shut down unexpectedly your system got corrupt boot files on the self restart.

corndog1836 & reedo_43,
Thank you so much for your reply's and help, sorry it was a while for my reply..I was away with business for a while.
I have managed to get it back up and booting normal.I done a fresh install of windows but still had the problem, I used the CD to do a 'repair' and it sprung into life.
There must be a corrupt file on the CD which presented the same error upon a fresh install but the repair done the job afterwards.
I have not re-tested what the temps are like with Handbrake yet so am unaware if that side has been rectified with the reinstall, but playing BF4 I reached 70*c which seems normal to me.
I also went into the BIOS and saw that there was an ASUS 'Easy-Tune' setting enabled that was slightly overclocking my system by default. I'm not sure if this is what was pushing my system to hit that 100*c?
I have set all the BIOS settings back to default so my system and hardware should be back to a 'Out the box' setting.
I am going to test the temps again tonight and I will be back with an update.
Thanks again for your time and input.
