Two new bad DDR3 RAM sticks?

Hello Everybody,

My name is Justin and I feel like I'm losing my mind because of my computer(The one I am currently using to write this).

First, I'll explain what happened to my computer, which may or may not have anything to do with the problem and may just be ironic.

On Friday, two weeks ago 8/14/2015, I came home from work and began drinking bourbon on the rocks and started gaming(That's pretty much all I use my desktop for). As the night carried on I got up to make another drink and as I came back to my desk I sat in my computer chair "swiftly" and one of the legs on my computer chair hit my case and my computer shut off, my monitors went blank just as the Que to my raid popped and I let out a loud "NOOOOO!". I immediately tried to cut the computer back on. I could here the fans power up but the monitors remained black and lifeless, not even a bios splash screen. Since I have a very limited knowledge about computers I began doing what trouble shooting I could. I began unplugging devices from the Motherboard(MoBo) one at a time to see if some damaged device was the culprit to the empty monitors. No luck, with everything unplugged from the MoBo (except the power supply obviously) still no BIOS splash screen and the monitors remained dark. Since I had been drinking heavily and it was late I decided to call it quits with the thought of the MoBo chipset probably being fried due to maybe jogging the RAM lose.

The next afternoon I walked into my office and sat down in my computer chair with a very sad posture as I stared into the black monitors. Out of spite I tried to turn the computer on one last time. I doubtfully pressed the power button and the BIOS splash screen showed up on the monitor!!! Then it froze on the BIOS splash screen. Still I was excited because I felt like this was a good sign that the MoBo was ok. Since I had not tried re-seating the RAM I decided to attempt that to see if it would fix the problem. When I reached into the case and touched the first stick of RAM it was warm to the touch, not hot, but warm which I thought was strange because it had been sitting all night and the computer didn't make it past the BIOS screen. I touched the second stick to compare and it had no warmth what so ever. I felt like the first stick may be bad so I removed it and put the cold stick in its place. Problem solved, it fired right up! So I plugged all my devices back into the MoBo(HDD, CD drive, etc.) and it went to windows, I was able to log in and work like normal except with half the RAM. Unfortunately the problem doesn't end there...

So I go to NewEgg.com and purchase some new RAM. When the new RAM arrived I took the one good stick out, put in my two brand new sticks AND... black empty screens again just like the original problem. My MoBo has four slots for memory, A1, A2, B1, and B2. So I took the original stick that is still good and I placed it in each slot and turned the computer on to make sure all the dimm slots were functioning properly. The computer worked with the original one stick in each slot, no bad DIMM slots. Next I tried using the original stick that I determined to be bad. The computer was lifeless with the bad memory in every slot, so I'm convinced its bad... Now I take the new sticks of memory. I use one at a time and place them in each slot and try to turn the computer on and... nothing. No matter the configuration I use with the new memory I was unable to get the computer to fire up. I stuck the one good one back in and it fires right up(I'm typing on it now). So I decided "hey, it's an old computer lets update the BIOS". I found the latest BIOS which specifically says stuff about memory in the notes and... still nothing.

The original memory is:

Patriot
PVS34G1333LLK
DDR3 1333MHz (7-7-7-20)
4GB (2x2GB) Kit, 1.7V

The new memory is :

G.SKILL RIPJAWS
F3-12800CL9S-4GBXL
DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 1.50v
PC3-12800 8GB(4GBx2) Intel XMP Ready

Since the timing and frequency on the two are different I decided to go into BIOS and manually set the timing and frequency to match the new G.SKILL. After changing the BIOS to match the G.SKILL it still won't get to the BIOS splash screen with the new memory in.

So my question is did I get two new bad sticks of memory from the factory? Or am I missing something really simple?

My set up is as follows:

OS - Windows 7 professional 64 bit
Case - Cougar Mid
Motherboard - Asus P5Q3 Deluxe
SSD(OS) - KINGSTON SV300S37A120G
HDD(DATA) - Western Digital Caviar black 500GB
Power Supply - ULTRA 1000W
Graphics card - Currently Nvidia NVS300
CD drives are disconnected at the moment...
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Justin

Solution
The new DRAM is 1600 Ripjaws X, which are made with high density memory chips (as are most all sticks these days) which aren't compatible to your mobo/chipset. I'd look for like the origianl Ripjaws (not the X or Z series), or their value NT line of sticks (these both use low density memory chips)

Thanks Tradesman1!

I figured there was something I was missing. I found a list of compatible memory for my specific MoBo provided by ASUS. The compatible memory sticks that are on the list and that I would like to purchase are all "Out of Stock" on newegg.com. Given the age of my Mobo it looks like I may have to resort to finding used memory perhaps...

Thanks again, I really appreciate your help!

I found two used sticks on ebay... they are on the the list of compatible memory for my MoBo provided by ASUS.

newegg.com was very misleading. I used their memory finder tool and it said that the G. SKILL memory that I purchased would work. It doesn't seem like newegg's memory tool takes into account things like high and low density memory, just dimm slot type.

Their tool basically says "Does your mother board have a DDR3 slot? Then let me give you a list of ALL our DDR3 memory sticks available."

This ridiculous list is what their tool says is compatible for my MoBo. LIES!
