Is there a way to get accurate CPU temps from the Sentry 3?

I have not purchased one yet because I want something that fully works. I've done some research into many fan controllers with full screen displays. There seem to be so few options out there, and the Sentry 3 looks the best and most functional IMO. According to the youtube video link below however, there is no way to get accurate CPU temps. Is this true?

Sentry 3 (Starts at 2:32 mark, and I have no clue what he's explaining beyond the temperature probe, which I've only heard of, but have never installed a fan controller before)

Thanks!

It depends. You obviously won't get the core temp of the CPU, rather what you will get if you position it correctly is the temperature of the heatsink directly above the CPU.

However, this shouldn't be a problem since I don't recommend plugging the CPU fan into the fan controller, and the case fans should only rev up if the GPU or CPU heatsinks are getting hot.

So I would just stick the sensor to any flat area on the CPU Heatsink? Preferably on top of the heatsink?

Is it possible to buy a wire that would run from the fan controller to some port on the motherboard in order to get the core temp? Gigabyte GA-Z97MX-GAMING LGA1150 mATX

BTW, I plan to leave my CPU fan hooked up to the Cpu-Fan port on the motherboard, and then hook up my 5 case fans to the controller.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, there is no such port on any motherboard as far as I know, so the best you can do is place the temperature probe on top of the baseplate of the CPU heat sink:

Ok, sounds good enough to me. I was thinking about what you said before, and the Sentry-3 should at least serve it's main purpose of adjusting the fans. The main reason I want it is so that I can adjust the fans manually anyways. I know I could do this using Sys_Fan ports on the mobo, but I want to fill the empty drive bay anyways. It will also be more convenient to adjust the fans this way anyways. The colorful touch screen is a nice bonus. I just won't get cpu core temps, but I can live with it.

Thanks for all your help!
