I think the GPU department of my Computer is due an upgrade and have been looking at the GTX 970 which, from what I've read, sounds like an amazing card! I usually only play non-demanding games such as World of Warcraft, Dota 2 and a selection of old games that require next to zero GPU power. But recently I have been delving into the RPG Genre and have started playing games such as Fallout 3/NV, Skyrim, Far Cry 4 etc. and with Fallout 4 coming out in a couple of months I would really like to upgrade prior to the release. I was just wondering if the 970 is going to be powerful enough to run games such as these at 1080p on max settings with a framerate of anything above 50-60. I could save for a couple more months and grab a 980 Ti but would much rather receive an upgrade soon, especially if the 970 is suitable for my needs.

Thanks for any answers, I really appreciate the help,

Callum.

the 970 should run them just fine, only a few games will force you down to high. one thing I feel you should consider is getting a R9 290X, which tends to be the same price or less for a 970, and will preform as well in some games, and as as they get demanding it will start to pass the 970. the 980ti might be worth it if you do not want to buy a card for a long time.

Wait few months and grab GTX 980Ti. Its future proof. You can easily spent atleast 3 years with this card at ~60fps from any RPG games at 1080p on max settings.

If you have the budget for the better one, always go for the better one.
