Hi all

Before my desktop was all fine no issues at all until couple weeks ago I started experiencing the monitor or computer hang for a couple seconds. This has been frequent for every game I play. In more detail: while playing the game, eg CSGO, it will be fine for a while then my screen will freeze or lock up with the image of the last action taken (No black screen or blue) just hang for a few seconds then its back to normal and everything is caught up.

I've tried a chkdsk /f/r to apparently no avail
I have recently installed a new gpu - r9 380
I've reinstalled and updated my gpu drivers and cpu drivers and chipset

I have no idea what else it can possibly be, but all help appreciated!!!!
I hope its a simple fix

I've been having the same issue. You'll be playing and the visuals will hang but the audio keeps going right? Been having the issue myself on Dying Light, Blops 3 beta and Project Cars. Have you had any luck in finding something?

Nope not at all. Sometimes I get the music other times I don't. I've tried nearly everything. New DVI cables, only using 1 monitor, different power cables for the monitor.

Hi sorry was late reply, had a few assignments to do. Umm no I just installed it over the top. But a friend has windows 10 upgrade as well and his seems to be fine. Im under the impression it might be a psu issue but not too sure. I really hope it isnt windows 10 because I cant be bothered to clean install it

I mean it might be a powersupply issue. I hadn't thought of that till now. Now I don't know the extent of your issue but on my end it only happens on some games and not on others. Even with games that put alot of stress on the parts it isn't consistent, i'd expect that if it happens with Dying Light and Project Cars which are fairly demanding games it would occur on Battlefield 4, Wargame Airland Battle and War Thunder which are all pretty demanding games in their own respects as well. I feel as if it was a powersupply issue it would be consistent among those.

Ok so, I was fiddling around with some windows settings (firewall, notifications, defender, etc etc) and while was in there I turned Windows Defender off. Well since doing that I've been able to play without it happening. For example before when playing Project CARS it would hang maybe once every 25 minutes or so, some times more often, but since turning Defender off i've played 5 hours and it hasn't happened once.
So maybe it had something to do with defender starting up a process causing the game to hang, or maybe it was interfering with my copy of Malwarebytes causing some sort of conflict that caused the game to hang for whatever reason. Either way it seems to have cleared up on my end.
