Fresh PC build, installing windows, no SSD shown to install too.

Hello!

Last night built a new PC fresh, and went to put on windows hoping to install to my SSD. Unfortunately all that would show is my HDD, i have them all connected properly in the case but still nothing. Is there a trick to this? first time build.



mobo- ASRock Z97 Anniversary LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

cpu- Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5GHz LGA 1150 BX80646I54690K Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics WITH STOCK cpu fan

gpu- MSI Radeon R9 380 R9 380 GAMING 4G 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support ATX Video Card

psu- Rosewill Valens-600, Valens Series 600W Power Supply, 80 PLUS Gold Certified, Single +12V Rail, Intel 4th Gen CPU

Ram- G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL

case- NZXT S340 White Steel ATX Mid Tower Case

fans- 4X 120mm fans

also have an 1tb wester dig. HDD and a 250gb crucial SSD

 
Solution
Try to boot and install the OS with only the SSD attached first of all.


If that doesn't work, you could also use diskpart at the initial installer screen...

first installer screen press shift F10 to open cmd prompt
diskpart>enter (to enter diskpart)
list disk>enter (list all connected HDDs)
select disk 0>enter (if you only have the SSD connected, in SATa port #1, it will be disk 0)
clean all>enter (erase entire disk including partitions)
format fs=ntfs>enter (format ntfs structure)
active>enter (to mark as active)
exit>enter (exit diskpart)
exit>enter (exit cmd prompt)

Hopefully that will then result in it being recognised.
