currently i am using

Intel i3 530
Nvedia GT610 2GB Graphic Card

and i wanted to upgrade my PC to skylake i5 or i7. Can anyone tell me what extra components i have to buy for skylake i5 or i7 and will my graphic card work on the new PC?

Solution
1. Skylake cpu
2. Z170 motherboard of a sixe(ATX,M-ATX, ITX) that fits your current case.
3. Probably DDR4 ram. DDR3 compatible motherboards will be low end and may not work with your ram.
4. You can reuse your cpu cooler, the 75x75 mount will fit.

5. You can reuse your GT610. Integrated Z170 video may be preferred since it can support 4k resolutions. Performance is good for all except fast twitch gaming. Probably similar to the GT610.

You will need a new motherboard with Socket 1151, if you get one that can take DDR3 ram, then you can use your current ram. Your gt610 should work just fine with the 6700k, although the gt610 isnt very good, and the integrated graphics in the 6700k is probably better.

Just checked out some benchmarks, similar performance to a GTS 250, which is a LOT faster than a GT610.

Hard drive will be the same performance.
If you want performance, put the OS on a SSD,
That would apply to your current build also.
Once you use a ssd, you will never go back.

A SSD is 50x faster than the fastest hard drive in random I/O.
That is what the OS does 90% of the time.
In sequential it is 3x faster.
Files open instantly.
Windows updates go 3x faster.
You will never go back.

All modern ones perform similarly.
I like Samsung EVO or Intel 730 for reliability(which is better than hard drives)
