What I did
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on a dektop pc that had Windows 8.1 installed on it.

How I did it
I don't have a DVD ROM, so i used a 8GB USB device to install Windows. I've done this twice before on my own pc. This time I did it on my brother's pc.

What happened
After Windows 7 finished installing, no USB devices are working. Tried all ports. The internet isn't working either. I can't install any of the drivers because I can't connect the PC to anything. Usually every time I did it on my own computer, the USB devices would work.

Any help?

processor: core i5 6600k
mobo: Gigabyte z170 HD3 DDR3
RAM: 4GB DDR3
OS: WIndows 7 SP1 (Ultimate)

Solution
If you have a spare harddrive that you can plug into another computer download all the drivers to it and then plug it in the new pc install the drivers from there. Z170 is a new chipset and Windows 7 propably can't detect it properly.

Go to your motherboards website and download all drivers for your mb and make sure to install the INF update first then everthing else you need. Windows 7 has no idea what type of hardware you have as it is too new. After that do yourself a BIG favor and UPGRADE to win 10 for free.

Actually the most important thing i missed is no usb connections. So no matter where he downloads the media from and to he can not get it onto his new pc. No external device will work for him except maybe a hard drive with a sata cable...which Samat caught.

thanks for the heads up.

Nope. There are no working USB ports shown in device manager. I would attach a screenshot for a better understanding. But i can't.

Sorry missed the no DVD Drive. Do you still have the USB stick? You could download Ubuntu linux live CD on a different PC but put it on the USB STICK then boot off of it on the New PC and then be able to download the drivers and save them to your Hard drive. Then reboot into windows and install them. Other options are "borrowing" a DVD drive from another system so you can read a disk you load drivers on.. Or take the hard drive of the new computer and put it into another computer as a secondary drive and put the drivers on it in a folder then put it back into the new system and boot up and then install the drivers.
