Hey Toms! I'm having some trouble with my rig, hoping to get some guidance...

I assembled my computer last year but used it very little until recently. It turns off when bumped, but more often it seems to happen if the desk it is on is bumped. I noticed the heatsink wobbles slightly (I have a big Zalman cooler). I also have random troubles powering the computer on, and often find the solution is to unplug the machine and wait, or press the power button / hold it down, then power it on. Sometimes it will briefly spin on the fans, then turn off after a couple seconds, if not sooner.

My Specs:

Asrock z97m Anniversary motherboard
Pentium G3258
Radeon R9 290 XFX Double Dissipation
Seagate 2TB SSHD
Corsair CX600M
2x 4GB G.Skill 1866 DDR3

I am also experiencing various BSODs, 0x116 has been the more persistent culprit. I'm not sure of the best way to provide the dump, but I did paste the info below.

0x00000116
fffffa80`068b54e0
fffff880`04364cac
00000000`00000000
00000000`00000002
dxgkrnl.sys dxgkrnl.sys+5ccbc x64 ntoskrnl.exe+71f00

One other, different BSOD:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
0x00000050
fffff900`c2480310
00000000`00000000
fffff960`0030c69d
00000000`00000000
dxgkrnl.sys dxgkrnl.sys+3751c x64 ntoskrnl.exe+71f00

Things I tried:

Wiggling wires to PSU , tapping / bumping PSU directly - No shut down.
Moving RAM modules to different slots, no change.

My apologies if I left any useful details out, and thank you for any advice offered!

Bumping the desk with my fist shuts the computer off, and the power button doesn't turn it on without additional steps as mentioned above.

everything i read with the 0x00000116 error points to the video card. make sure its seated properly in the slot and screwed to the back of the case. I would also download driver sweeper and remove your video drivers and reinstall the latest from amd.

For what it's worth, the cooler *seems* to be cooling the proc, even under load, I'm staying around 50c. I'm not sure if its a bit top heavy, but I'll definitely try tightening it down... I pointed it out because I notice when I hit my desk the top of the cooler does shake, but it's a micro atx case, so I think the vibration goes through the whole thing rather easily.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try that out now.

check the 6pin and 8 pin power connectors from your power supply directly to your graphics card. Sometimes, if the pins are not aligned when you insert the connector, it pushes the connector out of the back of the plastic housing. (bad connection on one of the lines)

a wobble on a heat sink is not a good sign, make sure it is properly set.

Cool, I'll check that as well, thanks.

I am in the midst of reinstalling the drivers, the damn thing BSOD'd on me while shutting down just a couple minutes ago...
