Hi,

I bought Kingston HyperX Genesis 1600 CL9 DDR3 RAM. Its voltage is 1.65 V.

I have bought the i5-3470 processor and the motherboard I am thinking about is this MSI mATX H61M-P31-W8 motherboard.

On the motherboard website, it says that the voltage of RAM should be 1.5 V. But I have bought 1.65V by mistake.
Will I be able to use this RAM or will I have to sell it or return it.

Thanks!

Solution
I'd return and get decent sticks if possible - better than 90% of all 1600 DRAM runs on 1.5 or less including high performance DRAM, at CL11 these are very low performing 1600 sticks, needing 1.65 to run at CL9 is indicative of weak memory chips that are better suited to running 1066 sticks

Hi,

I was just about to return it. But then I found this datasheet - http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/khx1600c9d3k2_8gx.pdf

Here, it says that -

Each module kit has been tested to run at DDR3-1600 at a low
latency timing of 9-9-9-27 at 1.65V. The SPDs are programmed
to JEDEC standard latency DDR3-1600 timing of 11-11-11 at
1.5V. Each 240-pin DIMM uses gold contact fingers and requires
+1.5V. The JEDEC standard electrical and mechanical
specifications are as follows:

What does this mean? Can I use it in my build without problems? Should I still return it?

Thanks

Is it good?

So I should keep it? And then how do i make the RAM run at slower timing?
