so currently I am using a 500gb HDD for my pc
but this is way too little so I decided to upgrade to 2TB HDD and a 120gb SSD to have my operating system on.
Either way I ordered both of these to add on however 2tb HDD will arrive at my doors couple of days earlier than my ssd
so what I want to ask if its possible to add my 2tb hdd with my 500gb transfer all the files over to my 2tb hdd from my 500gb(excluding the operating system)
And then once I get my ssd copy over my operating system or just install brand new one

either way I want to make this process as less irritating as possible without having to install everything from scratch

Is my idea possible? or are there better ways to go about it?
Im really impatient when it comes to this since I need that extra storage in use soon.

Solution
Since you would need to clone from the 500GB HDD to the 120GB. I would move any important files, photos or documents to the 2TB. As long you have a SATA 3 cable and the SATA power cable plugged into the 2TB HDD, you can use it. You may need to go into Disk Management to create a "New Simple Volume" before you can access the 2TB.
