I have an ASUS m4a87td motherboard, currently with 2 sticks of OCZ Gold 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model OCZ3G1333LV4GK...
I am looking to upgrade, and want to purchase Ballistix DDR3 PC3-12800 • 9-9-9-24 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.5V • 512Meg x 64 •
Could / should I use the 3 sticks together?
Or possibly 2 of each ?
I know that the Ballistix are compatible, just not sure about mixing them.

You shouldn't mix RAM sticks that are different voltage. The first mentioned sticks are 1.65v would have to be tweaked in the BIOS to under volt them to match the 1.5 of the other stick. Your best bet would be to buy some new RAM to use, say 2x4GB sticks. This way, it's not just the same brand, but the voltage, and timings should be the same and would be your best bet to have a working pair without the hassle.

I almost didn't see it, but they are different speeds as well, 1333 compared to the potential upgrade 1600. Again, I would suggest looking at a new pair of RAM sticks. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233180 would be an option for you at 1600. $43 is a fair price for that as well and one of the more popular types for gaming. You don't need to be a gamer to use/enjoy it, but letting you know that it's a popular choice.
