Hi All,

i have internet on my computer(desktop) via wifi. i want to create another wifi via the ethernet port of the pc, wifi repeaters support that ?

for example Rj45 cable to a tp-link repeater, does the tp-link repeater will create the access point with no problems ?

ps : creating access point via computer Ethernet port is my only option.
thank's in advance

Ok then.

Here is what you want to get/do.
Ubiquiti pico-station to catch friends wifi. This has higher power radio and is purpose built for this task.
Then connect Ethernet from it to your own router. If you want to share files with friend then you will need to configure router as access point, otherwise just use normal configuration.
If you don't yet have a router the best "budget" router is the TP-Link WDR3600 for around $50.

If your your desktop has an ethernet port for internet (im sure it does). Connect an ethernet cable from the desktop receiving Wi-Fi to your other desktop. Then go to your Wi-Fi desktop and open up your Network Connections. Highlight both your Wi-Fi connection and your Local Area Connection. Now right click on the Wi-Fi connection and click on Bridge Connections. This will transfer your internet from your Wi-Fi internet connection to anything connected to the ethernet port. Now you will be able to share internet from your Wi-Fi tower to your other tower.

Hope this helps.

Hi yayo3p and thank you so much for your answer
the thing is i don't have other desktop, i only have one desktop that receiving WiFi connection from external long range WiFi adapter, and i'm just wondering if i bought router or repeater and plugged it in with my pc ethernet port woud it launch wifi ? creating my own access point at home ?

What exactly are tyring to support here, what is your end goal?
Why do you need a second wifi network besides the one already there that your desktop is connecting to?

Using a PC as a passthrough device works but it really does not work very well, thus using dedicated hardware will always work better, but we need to know what it is you are actually trying to achieve before we can make a proper suggestion.

Thank you boosted1g
i'm catching wifi (wifi of my friend) using long range wifi adapter, so other devices in my home are not getting that wifi signal !
that's why i'm trying to launch wifi from my computer, wifi repeaters can't capture that wifi that is far away from my home.
