LACIE external HD - Where is the memory gone

I have a 1 TB Lacie external HD (USB2.0). Until recently it had a total of 1 TB capacity. For some reason, after a 'format' I can only see 31.9MB on the drive.

What have i done wrong? More importantly, how can I get the rest of my 1TB disk back?

Thanks for any pointers.

Go into Disk Management, under Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Storage. You should see your disks and partitions shown there.

Thank you for the quick feedback

I did do a full format (rather than a 'quick' format). If I understand you correctly, I need to use something like PartitionMaster or similar to find the missing 968 GB 'partition'? I can only see 32 GB right now.
