Hello!

I have recently built my first computer so I am very new to this. I have been trying to run the game ARK survival but the game keeps having long periods of lag. For example ill play for 10 seconds and then it'll be lagging or frozen for around 2 minutes and then repeats the 10 seconds of game then 2 min of lag. On a separate game called The Forest the game ran smoothly for around 5 minutes then randomly crashed and even once rebooted the whole computer! I also tested the game Left 4 Dead 2 and it ran perfectly with no issues at all. If you have any ideas how to help me please let me know!
For the graphics card driver I am using 355.60.

Notes:
Ark would run smoothly on high settings and then freeze up the same as it did on low settings.
Forest crashed on high and on medium and once reset the computer
Temperatures idle is 30-40c
League of Legends runs on the highest settings however the computer shut off and restarted immediately after victory..

PC Parts:
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690k cpu @ 3.5ghz (Drivers are up to date and ran a CPU checker and it passed)
Graphics Card: EVGA GTX 970 Super Clocked 04G-P4-3975-KR
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Pro4 ATX LGA1150 (drivers are up to date)
Ram: EVGA 8GB DDR3-2400 (PC3-19200) CL11 Desktop Memory Kit (Two 4GB Memory Modules)
Hard drive: Western Digital 1tb 3.5" 72000 RPM
PS: Diablotek EL Series PSEL500 500 Watt ATX Power Supply ( i heard this one was bad but could that be the source to the problems?
Case: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-02 Redshift ATX Special Edition Gaming Case w/ Red LED Fans

Any help would be appreciated! If there is anything I missed or any other information that would be helpful, please ask!

Thanks for the help!

No professionally done reviews, model has been discontinued, and it's made by Sirtec so I'd avoid it. If you want to keep it cheaper without a mail in rebate get a 550w XFX.

Dude, that's really weird. Check the temperatures of all parts and if the are low, reinstall the games or if this doesn't work, then Windows. If temps are high you've installed a pc part wrong

Kritonios: I have reinstalled the games and it yielded the same results. the temperatures seem to be normal.

Bignastyid: What one would you recommend ? I have already sunk in a lot of money and would prefer a quality one that will do the job but also not break the bank.

It seems like for the game ark itll stop responding and then work. I did also notice that 60% of the cpu was being used but then would spike to 90% sometimes.

Overkill but can't beat the price and will run dual 970s.

Don't spend $500 on cpu and gpu and then get the cheapest pile of crap PSU you can find.
Yes a poor psu can cause your games or pc to crash because it can not provide enough stable power to the graphics card.

Never go cheap on the part that can destroy everything else!

Do you think 550 watts will be enough for some overclocking? I did a watt calculator and said mine needed around 330-350. Let me know as soon as you can so I can order! Thanks again!

A 550w PSU from tier 1 or 2 could handle that system with overclocking.
