I'm planning on building a mini-ITX gaming system, using the 6700K at maximum overclock. I've read that it can hit up to 5.2GHz on air cooling alone at a mere 1.35V, but I want more (who doesn't, right?). So, I'm just wondering what the best closed loop liquid cooler would be for the LGA 1151 6700K. When I say "best", I want to know which cooler would give me the lowest CPU temps, and allow an even greater overclocking potential.

Thank you guys.

Solution
If your building MINI ITX does your case support only 120 rads or 240 rads? Also people are hitting 5.2Ghz but the Silicon lotterly has no mercy.

i believe the current case i've selected supports just a 120mm rad, however if there is a better cooler that is a 240mm rad, i would definitely change my case.
can you explain this silicon lotterly?

Like ajhockey3 said... it all depends on what case you go with and what you can fit or mod. Personally i favor the corsair h105 which you set in the bios and forget it. which is on sale at

Any comparable solutions will be within a degree or so. If you want colder temps you will need to build a custom loop which is a lot more money.

Silicone lottery as in every chip is different. some will get to 4.5 and some will get to 5.0 ghz. There is no guarantee what your cpu will hit.

The Silicon lotterly. No two cpus are created =. some will overclock better then others just a fact. And as closed loop coolers go just buy one that fits your color scheme and change out the fans to High static pressure fans for best temps. Fractal's Venturi fans are good or EK Vadar fans. Corsair also has some high static pressure fans and coolermaster does too.

DO NOT DE-LID. and generally if you delidded your cpu you put new thermal compound and the heat spreader back on. But please don't de-lid

can you explain why? it's very easy to do, and from what i've read it can reduce temps pretty decently

Why? i shaved off 15 c on my devil's canyon

You can ruin your CPU it will be nearly impossible to sell the CPU down the road and normally your overclocking isnt limited by temps mostly voltage

the only way to ruin it is if you put the razor to far in, but this isn't exactly rocket science, peolpe do it all the time. I'm actually now considering delidding the 6700k, then sandwiching a peltier in between the CPU and a closed loop cooler, but I'm not sure if a closed loop cooler would be able to remove that kind of heat, seeing that peltiers can boil water and all. a 240mm rad with 2 high cfm Lamptron fans might do nicely. and I know condensation could be a problem, but at max overclock there shouldn't be much or any. any ideas?

Thousands of people de lidded there cpu without an issue after intel gave up solider without any issues & cured there overheating problems without anyone's help. Look up a video of how easy it is to "delid" a cpu. If you are able to build and fix pc's you should not be afraid to mod them!

I'm not afraid to mod but i'm afraid to break a $300 CPU. I might try it with some old AMD Athlon 64's i got laying around
