Hey there,
I have some issues revolving around installing windows 8.1 pro on my new PC, which does not have an operating system as of yet.

When I start up the installation, I want to choose my 850 EVO 250GB SSD, so it will start up nice and fast.
However, my PC will neither let me install windows 8.1 pro on my SSD, nor on my 2TB HD.
It just says that the selected disk is not able to be used for installing windows on it. When I make a new partition from my SSD, it says it can't create a new, or find an existing partition on that option.
(btw, any tips on how large the partition should be are apreciated. I plan to use 100GB for it now, so I won't come across any other problems along the way, plus the size can be changed later on anyway)

I am at a loss for what to do.
It uses UEFI bios utility windows, on which the SATA mode already is on AHCI as default. so that isn't the problem I think.

Hope you know a lot more about this than I do.

Solution
You should look for chipset and raid drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's page. If you happen to have a RAID chip, even in non-raid configurations, it might need a non-standard driver to access disks. Simply put the drivers in the same install media (unpackage them of course) and select the "load drivers" option (usually lower left)
