Water cooling/Overclocking Loop order question

I'm new to water cooling and am wondering what would be the best order for a i7 2700k and a AMD 290 with only a single 240mm radiator? Seeing as the 290 is good until around 95 C I my main concern is the 2700k temps, especially with an overclock. I was wondering if the loop order really even mattered. Basically would going Res > Pump > Rad > CPU > GPU > Res be better than Res > Pump > GPU > CPU > Rad > Res ?

It doesn't matter for loop order. Once temps stabilize after being on for awhile, the temps for idle/load for your CPU and GPU would be about the same in either loop configuration, maybe 1-2C difference at most.

Some pumps are temperature limited, if you use option 1 you'll be putting the heated coolant into the res, possibly running over the pump temperature (unlikely but possible),
Still waiting on some parts for my own i5 4690K/R9 290 setup but I'm planning on: PUMP/res>CPU>GPU>RAD>PUMP/res.

Sorry, this is incorrect.

Loop order does not matter as long as the pump does not have have the ability to draw air into the flow, usually meaning the reservoir feeding the pump inlet at higher location.
