Is burning an iso on a blank cd media disc illegal? (not sure if I'm in the right forum)

...I recently created a disc image iso from a game disc I owned (and is also scratched up) and planning to burn it onto another cd/dvd disc...Is it illegal or is it okay?

As I understand it, you are allowed to make a copy of legally owned software to safeguard for damaged or lost discs. But you cannot give the disc away or sell it. It should be for private use only and as a backup.

Legislation varies in different countries, so you need to check your local laws. For example, I believe this is currently illegal in the UK.
